IFComp 2008 - Red Moon
15 Oct 2008 21:03Maybe repeated head injuries from the early games I played are taking a toll. Red Moon isn't really a game. It's more a slightly creepy experimental piece. I actually was slightly creeped out by the opening scenes*, so bonus points for you.
Now, give it more than three (wha?! three?!) days, cut out the remarks that seem to break the fourth wall, and you honestly might have an interesting mood piece. Not a game, per se, but a mood piece.
Oh, and you'll have to change the ending now. There's no reason to replay a game with that ending.
Rating: 5**, because it's not a great game, it's not a new type of IF, but it's not broken and it slightly creeped me out.
** Yes, I bumped it up after thinking about it some more. My innovative Flexi-Score system means I can change them for a little bit, as long as playing + thinking < 2 hours.
*It was night, but it's hard to be really creeped out when someone has to go gallivanting across Azeroth, and is on Ventrilo talking to people who are pretending to be sexy elf ladies, sitting three feet away.
